Hello Sean,
"I don't know of any company that has any training
material on how to utilize the CD effectively. "
My course specifically deals with teaching you how to use the DocCd. I
go over it both in my one-on-ones and my bootcamp. Please see my website

Joe,
You're doing Practical Labs - Lab 4, section 5 - correct?
You just have to learn to work with what clues you're given and how to
hunt
quickly on the CD.
OK, you know 2 things for sure - DHCP and ftp.
1-Let's start at DHCP - you're going to need to realize - DHCP is under
'IP
addressing' on the CD. Looking at the CD - there's only 15 or so DHCP
commands (even if you're looking at the master command list). So, you
got
it narrowed down pretty decently to 1 of 15 commands.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/
fipras_r/1rfdhcp.htm
2-Now, even if you only start at the top of that CD page that has all
the
DHCP commands - do a control-f and do a search on 'ftp' - the first hit
you'll see is the right command:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/
fipras_r/1rfdhcp.htm#wp1017959
Granted, the CD doesn't always help, but after moving through the
routing
sections, I can usually find answers to the IOS and dlsw questions
pretty
quickly. I still stumble on the OoS and MC with the CD though.
And this is something I loved to see some training material on - how to
get
through the CD quickly. I don't know of any company that has any
training
material on how to utilize the CD effectively. I'm still learning
tricks to
help (like the Index link at the bottom of most areas - another way to
do a
quick search on a narrower field than using the master CD list).
Side note - Is it just me - or are labs 1-3 from the Practice Labs book
much
harder than labs 4-6?
HTH, Sean
