CME is a rehash and enhancement of the IOS Telephony Service (ITS), which
has been around for quite a while.... ITS's last version was 3.01, and CME
started at 3.03.
There are many new enhancements and additions, but many carryovers and
similarities! Just a larger marketing push now since it's a cooler package!
So it's not entirely a new thing! CME 3.03 was October of 2003. ITS goes
back well into 2002!

I also could not find the printed books yet, as it is a new product, I
believe only a few months old, but I would take a look at the links I gave
you earlier, also there is a course at Networkers on the Cisco Callmanager
Express, as well as the Cisco Unity Express. The class is the only hands on
class that I had at Networkers, that and a security class were the best
classes that I took there. Also there is a course:
642-142 CME
Formerly 644-141 CME
Cisco Call Manager Express (for Cisco Channel Partners only; general
candidates contact your Cisco Learning Partner for available training).
So again, my recommendation would be to go over the links, that should take
you some time, to go over all the information until the books come out. If
you need to take a course, you maybe able to use that option also.

There aren't any books out yet that cover CME. The administrator's guide
online isn't bad, but there are some interesting nuances about configuring
it that aren't really covered by anything other than trial and error at this
point. :)
I would assume that a book is in the works by someone. CME is relatively
cool!
