Curious, is the VOD the same as the audio boot camp? I have heard snippets
of the Audio, and I was greatly impressed (though it seemed that there was
more depth in some areas than the actual lab (my last attempt was in
January, 2003, so they have probably completely altered the exam (with my
luck, it is composed of all Bay equipment now...)
Or is the VOD, videos of the actual IPExpert bootcamp? I have heard that it
contains a lot of questions from people in a 'class' that one person said
were the same questions they would have asked.
I am not trying to shill for you here, but I am kind of curious about this
myself... My company wants me to get my CCIE REALLY badly (the company is
SBC, apparently the number of CCIEs they employ is directly related to what
Cisco equipment costs them) and I am seriously considering the live bootcamp
from you.
A coworker went to the 2-week Global Knowledge class (which costs $7000),
and found it was totally inadequate (this may also have been a function of
his preparation before hand).
What I am looking for is real feedback, someone who will pose realistic
scenarios, let me work them, and then give me no-punches-pulled critiques of
my efforts (or lack thereof)... I took a three month class (two nights a
week) here in Chicago two years ago that got me thinking in the right
direction (but not quite enough) and I made what I like to call a great
'first attempt' at the lab (crushing some sections like Dial and BGP, and
getting crushed by stupid areas like IP services...)
It seems to me that the really hard part about the lab is not so much
knowing the material but being able to divine what the scenario is looking
for. I walked out of the lab 18 months ago convinced I had satisfied the
requirements for 99 points (and convinced I had crushed the lab (the one
point I know I did not get, I believe to this day cannot be accomplished (I
asked my CCIE instructor at the time and he said 'that's impossible')), but
when I got the lab report, I guess I only got about 50...
I keep seeing this quote that 'all working configs get full points' but this
is not true. If you satisfy the requirement using a method that was not the
goal, you don't get the points.
I guess the real question here is how do you know what the intent is? Asking
the proctor seems like a good option, but when do you do it? If you see a
scenario question, and you have an obvious method to do it, why ask the
proctor if it is the proper method? How do you know that the method is the
right one?
This problem seems to be made worse the more you know about configuration
options...

There are also "video" products, which are a visible/audible capture of our
vClass that can be viewed at your leisure. The audio bootcamp is a
collection of CD's with me as the author/speaker. It's a strange goal, but
I figure if you are going to tell the proctor that you have voices in your
head, then it may as well be mine! (grin)

Josh,
As i read ur mail and others on the list i do see that there is mention
about CD's and VOD's from IPexpert.
I am under the impression there are only the set of CD's from IPExpert with
Scott Morris as the author or speaker. Am i mistaken ? or are there
different products.
Can someone clarify the difference and which is better and why ? any recos.
Thanks in advance.

I have all the ipexpert products with exception of the VOD. The CD's rock,
you can take them wherever you have a CD player. Combine that with the
student guide and you have a winning combination. With the workbooks even
more so. I have not tried internetwork expert, however I'm planning on
sampling a few of their products as well as more of ipexperts stuff (and
maybe a couple other companies as well) at my work for training for my crew.
My opinion though.......the CD's are tops...I'm happy with them.
