I agree, just got the book a couple days ago. It is very well written and
edited, explains quite clearly many traditionally glossed-over or confusing
points. The author doesn't shy away from really clarifying the hard to
explain stuff. The fact that he doesn't sport a CCIE number on the book
cover definitely shouldn't make you discount the title.

I'd however venture it is somewhat overkill for the R&S -- in my
experience, for the security parts the doc CD was plenty enough -- but the
book will likely remain high on my stack for the Security lab. Richard Deal
also wrote the best PIX book on the market, one I have recommended to many
colleagues and customers who were confused as I was by core stuff like
statics, nat 0, etc.
