Hi Group,

I know there were lots of discussion about this command in the forum I have a minor question.

Quote from DQOS book(by Wendell Odom):
"By default CBWFQ only allow 75% of the link BW to be explicitly assigned, reserving 25% for the class default"

My question:
Assume link bw=128kbps and you have 3 classes and assigned a total bandwidth of 70%(128kbps*0.7=89.6=90kbps)class 1 bandwidh=10kbps, class 2 bandwidth=35kbps, class 3 bandwidth=25kbps. What will the bandwidth assigned to default-class, is it still 25% of the link bandwidth(32 kbps) or remaining bandwidth(38kbps=128kbps-90kbps). The book has a example when class bandwidht exceeds 75% of defined bandwidth on the link(eg: max-reserved-bandwidth 85).

Or else do we need a comand like below to specify to use class-defalt bandwidth to the remaining 30% instead of default 25%:
(config-if)#max-reserved-bandwidth 70<--this number is less than the default number(75%)

PS:Guys if you think you are week in QOS read this book cover to cover, very good explanation like a interesting storey. At the begining I was skeptical about QOS, When I started reading this book with examples, it gave me lots of confidence in QOS section.

thanks in advace for the replies

Mani
