Robert,
I think the changing structure of the lab is partially at fault.
3 years ago (ugg, has it really been that long?), the 2 day lab had a
separate troubleshooting section, which could be password recovery,
image recovery, flaky cables used, etc. This really put more emphasis
on job experience, where things like that happen all the time. These
techniques weren't really documented well, so the questions surfaced on
Groupstudy, which was educational for all. Now most of the topics on
the lab are documented fairly well on CCO, and certainly on all the
big-name lab prep courses mentioned on this list. This is why I believe
the 'fun and educational' factor of this list has gone down a bit. It's
still useful for the current lab, but probably not as closely related to
the real world as it once was. I find the discussions on the cisco NSP
list pretty interesting these days for real-world Q&A. It's a nice
break from the quarterly "Can I trunk on a 10 meg port" question on
groupstudy...

Subject: Off Topic - is this list becoming BORING
Folks,
While I was studying for my CCIE I used to post real life events on
oddities and such. So did Chuck and Howard, however over the last year
I cant really be bothered answering at least 90% of the questions that
are posted. This is because
a) They obviously cant be bothered searching the archives.
b) They obviously cant be bothered searching www.cisco.com
I might just becoming to the end of my shelf life on this study group
but I would like to know the thoughts of others. I used to see this
list as one of the greatest lists for not just the CCIE program but real
life oddities as well. Now all I seem to be on is the Cisco netpro
(especially on the service provider questions).
P.S. Am I now one of the dinosaurs with a < 5 number CCIE?
