It is dated "19 April 2001". So I do not expect it to have significant
impact today ;)

Subject: OFF Topic : Changes to CCIE staffing

Hi Everyone,

I just came across this article that may interest all the CCIEs and the
potential CCIEs.

http://www.gartner.com/webletter/cisco/article1/article1.html

" Cisco is also reducing the Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE)
revenue-scaling requirement for partners, down from one CCIE on staff for
every $10 million in Cisco business to one CCIE for every $40 million."

" According to Cisco, channel program changes include:

* CCIE revenue-scaling requirement reduced from one CCIE per $10
million to one CCIE per $40 million

* Emphasis balanced among associate, professional and expert certified
individuals, of which there are more than 150,000 worldwide

* Extensive Web-based training available for individuals to become
certified and for companies to become specialized

* Program level achievement based on certifications, infrastructure,
specializations and customer satisfaction rather than product sales volume "

It sounds like this annoucement will have an impact on hiring , partners
will probably be reducing the number of CCIEs that they are going to hire.

Regards,
Paul
