Right... I was trying to wrap my mind around the scenario but I
understand that its like OSPF.
Sometimes you have to use a physical/multipoint subinterface (or are
directed too) so this command would be nice to know if I have to run
isis over the multipoint without being able to statically map CLNS to
the DLCI.

One use of the isis network point-to-point command would be to permit an
adjacency between mismatched frame-relay interface types. Without this
command you cannot form a direct adjacency between a frame-relay
point-to-point subinterface and a frame-relay physical or multipoint
subinterface. With this command on the multipoint side, you can form
such an adjacency.
