Hey John,
One of the first things I would do on both Cat's is "show vtp status"
In the output you will see whether or not pruning is enabled.
Personally, I don't know of any command that will tell you explicitly which
vlan's have actually been pruned, but. perhaps, the show int trunk tells you
indirectly. I havn't actually looked into that issue.
Maybe I've been to trusting.
As far as your 2nd and 3rd question, we'll have to see what more
knowledgable 3550 people have to say.
