hi ,
i have tried twice ..and i have my next in 8 NOV
what i am doing is two-fold
this plan depends on how much hands on you get ..
i get quite a lot of hands on ...but my theory sucks...so i am doing the
following
1 .get the right sources of info
2. plan each week / two weeks to study the subject and then practise this
hands on
1)
the books that i have only now found and am using are the following
CCIE practical studies Vol 1 and 2 ( very good)
Routing TCP /IP vol 1 and 2
Internet routing architectures
IS-IS network design
Cisco Press - Interdomain Multicast Solutions Guide
and this link supplied by Marvin Greenlee in response to someone else's
question
Release 12.3 >> New Feature Documentation >> New
Features in Cisco IOS 12.3
2)
my study plan looks like this
i found that as there is so much to learn that unless you break it up and
focus on individual subjects i would just get lost in a sea of info
for each week i use this loose plan
Monday - Friday READ (Friday prep for the next subject ...print of text
...get books )
Saturday REST ( otherwise my brain fry's) and REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW
for me if i don't review what i have learnt i find that it goes in 1 ear
and out the other..i just mean's running through scenarios in my head and
making sure i know what goes where and how to do that ...
e.g ospf over isdn ,redundant multicast MSDP...ATM over svc non-classical
...where i would and ALSO where i would not use these
Sunday morn + afternoon Lab practise what i have learnt ....NOT full on
CCIe lab's (you can do this if you wish ) ...just practise everything i can
do with the subject in a reasonably complex environment ....i found on my
attempts that it wasn't getting everything working together that cost me
...it was getting the individual bits working that cost me...
E.G
i could redist IS-IS into OSPF ....but i couldn't get Isis to work over
ISDN ..( that did NOT happen to me in the lab its just an example)
Sunday eve's ..SLEEP i am usually in bed by 8 PM ( its tough being a CCIE
candidate)
1 week RIPv2
1 wek IS-IS
2 weeks QOS ( i am week in this area)
2 weeks multicast (again week)
1 week voice
1 week secuirty
1 week NAT/DLSW
1 week ISDN
1 week ATM
2 weeks of 7 day a week me in the Lab just configuring stuff
it is working REALLY well this time .....and i am confident i will be ready
for NOV 8 ..
