Hi Jongsoo,

It would depend on the wording of the Frame/ATM part, as to whether you
would HAVE to do it or not.

The main reason I include it is for the tcl script that I run.

For example:
Say R1 has a frame relay connection to R2.
If my script is run from r3, which is behind R1, what will happen if I dont
map the ip to the dlci?
Most likely it will time out.
Then I ask myself, if it times out, will this cause me stress wondering why
im not getting a reply to all my pings?
I will then have to go to the Frame relay router, to make sure that nothing
is screwed up there.

In the end it makes for a cleaner test, and less stress.

Subject: some stupid question

> When I configure a multipoint interface using F/R PVC or ATM PVS/SVC on
test, is it necessary to map router's local interface ip address in addition
to the remore interface with DLCI or NSAP??? The only value I see by
mapping this is local interface is pingable. Most solution I've seen from
IPexpert always inlcudes this.
