Well, I did a copy-paste above since I still have the shivers after
receiving my result 2 hours ago...
I passed yesterday in Brussels, on my first attempt. I cannot describe the
feeling passing gives, words cannot explain it. Any attempt to describe it
would be futile.
I am not going to bore all of you with my complete life before CCIE, so
here's a short resume: I started as a mainfraime/unix administrator >10
years ago, did that for 4 years, worked at Bull for 1 year, mainly doing
3com/cisco networking, did NT management for about 3 years, and finally, 3
1/2 years ago, got back to my love I discovered at Bull, networking, the
bits and the bytes stuff I was missing with Microsoft.....
Did the CCNP/CCDP/CCSP tracks, as well as some Checkpoint certification
between the bread and the butter that Cisco was....
I still cannot believe that I made it, but I guess that's a normal reaction.
Thanks go to the Brians for making a workbook that enabled me to have a
structured study method, and scenarios that made me go back to the books
quite a lot... Whatever workbook, don't take it as a braindump, it cannot be
used like that. Learn it to find out the parts where you are not strong.
Thanks to Scott Morris as well, he's a great guy and he basically convinced
me to keep on pushing about 2 weeks ago, when I had a dip. This IS an
emotional rollercoaster, ups and downs all the time. Keep on pushing is the
best advice I can give.
Thanks to Groupstudy as well, for having all those flame-free discussions...
And thanks to the Proctor for keeping up with all those stresses people, and
staying patient, friendly, and very professional.
This is not the end, this is a new beginning. If there is one thing I
learned by studying is that there is so much more to discover in networking.
The more you know, the more you know about things you don't know.
LEARN SOMETHING NEW EACH DAY is all what it's about.
I might give myself a treat by finally going for that static internet IP
address(es) and that VPN concentrator ;-)
Getting back to my normal work that's a bit more VPN and security oriented
next week, after a well-deserved break at a bungalow-park this weekend,
leaving in 2 hours.
Kind regards,
Koen Peetermans.
