Stimulants will only make you even more nervous. Don't even bother.

By "edge," I mean industrial experience or the kind of environment for
the kind of concentration this kind of studying requires. Better if you
have both.

Many of the people studying for this bitch are between jobs, voluntarily
or otherwise. They do a lot more reading than I do, and can spend more
time dissecting the technologies represented in the workbooks.

This journey is an emotional roller coaster for them, too. If anything,
there is even more pressure to pass because it's so expensive to make
each attempt and there's not much money, if any, coming in.

That I have a good job is actually prolonging the successful completion
of this journey to CCIE. My work is appropriately stressful given my
level of responsibility and pay rate.

On the other hand, I find it harder and harder to find productive time
to study. I do find time, but I am too tired or too distracted to use it
as well as I otherwise might.

You could pass on your first attempt. Stranger things have happened.
Statistically, though, it's not likely. Postponing it doesn't seem to
make a difference, either, if you talk to people here.

Once you lose your lab virginity, you can commiserate with the rest of
us.
