Hello,

Can anyone tell me why every ADSL provider config I've ever seen uses PAP as
an authentication mechanism, instead of the more secure CHAP.

PAP uses cleartext authentication, so it's rarely used in practice anymore.

Except for ADSL connections. Why ?
