Hi Ty,
Sorry to hear that you couldn't make it in your 1st trial. I passed by a
similar situation.
My CCNP/DP status was about to expire just 15 days before my 1st lab
attempt - Mid June -. I didn't want to risk what I have already got so I had
a very short break for like one week from CCIE prep. to recertify my CCNP.
This actually helped as I didn't make it my 1st lab attempt. Despite of
the frustration with not passing in my 1st lab attempt, I knew from my
performance in that trial that I am very close. I didn't waste time and
scheduled for my 2nd lab attempt only to be 34 days away from my 1st attempt
- You are forced to have a min of 30 days gap between lab attempts -.
During that one month difference I didn't really study hard as I got busy
at work but luckily I made it and passed the lab in my 2nd attempt.
Bottom line, don't risk your CCNP/DP status and keep the bird you have in
hand.
Regards,
Yasser

Subject: lab results
Well..I received the lab results from my first attempt today at RTP. I felt
really good when I finished, and even though I didn't pass, I still feel
that by looking at my score results that I was very close. Gonna take a real
short break, regroup, and get back at it. In the meantime, I could use just
a little advice. My CCNP/DP expires in October, should I renew that before
getting back into it, (I cannot afford to go back for at least 3-4 months)
or if I am going to pursue the CCIE until I get it, should I just not waste
any time renewing them ?
Thanks!
Ty
