        The answer is it depends. The behavior of policy routing
locally generated traffic has changed in recent versions. It used to be
that you could policy route locally generated broadcasts and multicasts,
but they changed it so you can't.

        I don't really see why you would want to in a practical
application, but I have seen many times where it has undesired effects,
which is probably why they changed it. For example you could be policy
routing your routing protocol traffic out a different interface and the
"debug ip packet" output would show that it's going out the correct
interface.
