John,
I believe there is a difference.
The 2nd way - where both commands are wrote separately does the following
A) You enable collecting BGP traps using " snmp-serve enables traps bgp "
B) You define your snmp-server and which traps to send to the snmp-server
using " snmp-server hosts 139.2.2.100 CISCOBGP bgp "
The 1st way you mentioned only defines the snmp-server ip and which traps
to send but you need a command to initially enable triggering these
traps.
That's my approach and I hope someone correct me if I am getting this
wrongly.
Yasser

Subject: snmp syntax
is there a difference between the following two commands? it seems to me
that
the first encompasses both of the second lines....
#snmp-server host 139.2.2.100 CISCOBGP bgp
and
snmp-server host 139.2.2.100 CISCOBGP
snmp-server enable traps bgp
