Hello,
I've had some trouble configuring snapshot routing over DDR. I must admit it's been a while since I last configured it, but I recall it being pretty simple to do (one command at each side):
interface dialer1
ip address 192.168.68.8 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp
dialer pool 1
dialer remote-name r6
dialer string 6666
dialer-group 1
snapshot client 5 60 dialer
ppp authentication chap
Please note that didn't need the "dialer map snapshot" command since I was using dialer profiles and "dialer map" doesn't apply. I've since got it working by -stumbling- across the "dialer snapshot" interface command while searching through help. Snapshot routing works great now.
I went back through the Configuring Snapshot Routing section of the Dial Configuration book and it doesn't reference the command (easy to see why I missed it):
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fdial_c/fnsprt5/dafnsnap.htm
I went to the Dial Command Reference and the command doesn't exist there either. So I did a search on Cisco's site for the exact phrase "dialer snapshot" and there's only one page that includes that exact command. Unfortunatly it doesn't explain why the command is present in the sample configuration, nor does it help that the command given in the configuration example is wrong (there are no optional arguments for the "dialer snapshot" command):
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk801/tk133/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080093c0a.shtml
From what I can gather, the "dialer snapshot" command is needed to enable Snapshot Routing across DDR interfaces. What I don't understand is why isn't not enabled by default (after all, if you configure the snapshot client command there's a pretty good chance you want to use snapshot routing on that interface), or exactly how the command works to know when I -wouldn't- want to use that command.
Can anyone offer any insight into this?
