I have been through 3 CCIE tracks since 2001.
I started studying for R&S in October 2001 and passed in May 2002.
I started studying for the Service Provider in February 2004 and
passed in June 2004.
In between these 2 I studied for Security and have not passed the lab yet.
In my opinion Security is the most difficult among the 3 as I don't
have any PIX or VPN concentrator or IDS experience. Actually I started
studying for the Service Provider track after I failed the Security
lab in February for the second time. I was so frustrated that I needed
something to regain confidence. I found that in the Service Provider
track.
Now I'm taking my time and will go through the PIX, VPN concentrator
and IDS appliances, spend a month on each and then focus on the lab
itself.
It's tough during the summer here in NY but I'll try my best in
between the barbecues. =)
