CCIE Security - advice from qualified or studying CCIE people

Hi All,

I've talked to a few CCIE's about the R+S exam to get a feel for what to study, which books etc. However one of them pointed out to me that as I have been doing firewalls since TIS, have a large ISP and Telco background and I have just started on an IPSEC project it might be better for me to have a quick look at the CCIE Security exam instead. The reason for getting a CCIE is simply because my clients now want more than just my CCNP CCDP. They are demanding CCIE. 9 years experience apparently doesn't count :)

I went off to Ciscos site and had a good read of everything. I tried the sample questions and while when I originally tried the CCIE R+S questiosn I got 2, maybe 2.5 right on this one I got all 5 right. Which started me thinking about the CCIE Security exam.

What I really want to do though is have a chat with some CCIE Security chaps and find out what they think of the qualification, has it helped them etc. and how hard it was to achieve. I have Checkpoint CCSA and CCSE for v3,4 and NG. I'm just wondering if CCIE Security would be an easier way for me to get my CCIE. (Yes, I know no CCIE is easy but those sample questions really seemed like no brainers, are they truly representative of the exam? If so I'm changing track).

All responses/points of view appreciated.

Kind regards
Phil Thomas
