You may not be able to configure everything under pvc/svc as you say
because the question might state you have to use pre 12.0 ios commands
or something like that. Nearly every question and scenario asks you to
configure something, but at the end it says " you CAN'T use "protocol ip
54.1.1.254 broad" command etc.
So if on your exam it says configure this svc as per the diagram but
tells you, you can't use nearly all the commands you are familiar with,
what will you do ? My ATM connection in my Lab lead to other things
later in the lab so If I didn't get that working other things would
fail.
Obviously you can't know everything, but having about 2 or 3 ways of
doing the same thing will help you on your day.

Lee,
Can you give an example where it can impact other stuff , my opinion is
to keep the configuration simple; if you can configure everything under
PVC/SVC why bother to create Map-list.
