Hi Marvin,
Suppose that you have the following topology: Switch-------R1
R1 has only one Ethernet to carry all its incoming and outgoing traffic. Now
If we are to configure redirection of internal hosts requests to the cache
engine would it be redirect in or redirect out ? Take into account the
following scenarios:
A) The cache engine is located on the same VLAN where internal hosts
resides.
B) The cache engine is located on a different VLAN.
I am confused here because the router has only one Ethernet to carry either
incoming or outgoing traffic.
Waiting for you reply.
Yasser

With hosts on the same segment as the cache engine, you still would do a
'redirect in' on the router. The in / out is for the direction of the
traffic from the hosts to the router.
The command 'ip wccp redirect' just tells the router what traffic to
redirect (inbound or outbound). It does not matter where the cache server
is. The cache server sets up a heartbeat between itself and the
router/switch, so that the router/switch knows where the cache server is.
