Ken,

No, the RP will already know it is the RP without additional
configuration. Whether using BSR or AutoRP, the RP will need to be
configured to advertise itself. The advertising (candidate) RP follows
the same election rules as all of the other routers and will know when
it becomes the RP (or for which groups it is the RP).

I know as of a certain version of IOS code, an RP must declare itself as
the RP for a multicast group. Does the RP have to statically configure
itself as the RP if some RP discovery mechanism is employed?
