This may have already been covered, but it is very useful:
For routers with frequently flapping primary links, the backup
continually drops in and out,
causing application sessions to crash.
I wanted to have a dampening option so that if primary is unstable, the
backup will stay
up longer and longer as it becomes more unstable rather than continually
flipping between primary and backup.
The best solution I've found has been to just make the decision that the
primary is too unstable,
and to temporarily shut it down - manual intervention.
