Hi Bob,

Thanx for your message.

My router in question is a 7500 with RSP2 but it is running on
12.2(15)T12.
Also the problem is that it is not ONLY failing to respond to the
virtual address but also to its configured ip address. As soon as I
configure HSRP with the ISL trunk I cant even ping the directly
connected ip of R2 and also loose eigrp and BGP neighbor ship.

I am not sure if after configuring the HSRP the source IP is the virtual
address from R6 or the configured IP address. I will do some debugs and
check.
However also from R2 also it not able to reach the configured IP of R6
and HSRP is only initializing.

Regards,
Mohit

Mohit,

HSRP should work with ISL. There is a bug reported for certain 12.0 IOS
on RSP2. Could this be your problem?
