I think one exception is if the partner lays you off and you can prove
it. Then your number is re-usable immediately by another partner. I
heard this 3rd hand so I don't know for sure if it's true. Your channel
account manager should be able to get you in touch with the right
person. I think the reseller you're associated with is a totally
separate database from all the other profiles, CCO, CCIE, etc. So
changing all those won't help you with this problem.

Subject: Re: CCIE Number
Cisco limits the recruiting of CCIEs from one partner to another Because
of their expert skills and experience, CCIEs are in demand among Cisco's
channel partners. To limit the adverse impact of losing a key staff
member, Cisco's Gold and Silver Channel Partner Program sets policy
regarding hiring CCIEs away from other Cisco Channel Partners. In
general, the program rules prevent a reseller who hires a CCIE away from
another reseller, from using that CCIE to qualify for Gold or Silver
status for a period of 12 months. More information can be found in the
Gold and Silver Program Policy Document in Appendix D, Section 4 "CCIE
Policies" or by contacting Partner Support.

If FTEI is a Cisco Partner, the other company will not be able to use
your CCIE# for 12 months. Nevertheless your CCIE# does not belong to
FTEI, you can just go online in all your profiles (CCIE, Certmanager,
Prometric, VUE, etc) and simply remove FTEI from your profile. There is
nothing they can do about it. Also, send an email to ccie@cisco.com and
let them know you no longer work for FTEI.
I am not trying to take sides here, just want to help clarify the
situation.
