Hi Group,
I still confuse between about the use of Delta keyword
in RMON.
I read RFC 1757 and found that the Delta value is the
last sample value substract from the current sample
value, and the difference is compared to the
threshold.
Could you confirm that the threshold parameter (in the
case using Delta keyword to test the change between
samples of a MIB variable) in Cisco command is
positive value or can be a negative value (because the
threshold value can be configured is from -2147483648
to 2147483647).
And if I have a question ask me to config RMON to
generate an event when the MIB increase 100 in value
and generate an event when the MIB decrease 50 in
value. How can I do?
rmon alarm 1 <MIB> <interval> delta
rising−threshold 100 1 falling−threshold
50 2
or
rmon alarm 1 <MIB> <interval> delta
rising−threshold 100 1 falling−threshold
-50 2
I find that Cisco always use positive (the absolute
value of the difference between the 2 samples) in
command. And if it's true, why the threshold can still
be configured with negative value?
Please help to explain for me.
Thanks for helps!
Viet
