Someone in IE forum pointed to DoyleII where this is mentioned. The fact is
that if the MA is directly connected to the RP and the receiving routers are
directly connected to the MA, then it will work,

I do not understand why R3 is able to see the discoveries from the mapping
agent on SW2 whereas every interface is sparse-mode only. auto-listener is
not configured nor is dense-mode so I would have expected R3 not to join the
tree of the group 224.0.1.40 !?!?
Could anyone explain ?
