Hello Everyone involved.......
As a helpful suggestion to everyone.......just being able to solve the
practice labs is not really enough. You must be able to identify what
problem the lab is presenting, understand the various options to solving
the problem, and implement the best solution available......
So, how do you know if you really understand what the problem is? The
best method would be to work with someone else and try to explain the
problem and your solution to the problem. If you can not explain either
the problem....or your solution to the problem.....then you need to go back
and read about the technologies involved in the problem. BTW, teaching
is often one of the best ways of learning....
For instance (I don't think you'll see this on a CCIE lab)
RTR A ---- FIREWALL --- RTR B
RTR A and RTR B use EIGRP. Make the routes in RTR A appear on RTR B
routing table.
Now, what is the problem being presented
what are the possible options
which is the best possible solution
The problem is that EIGRP doesn't work through firewalls.....why? It is
very important to understand the why part as this will let you know if you
really understand how EIGRP works (I'll leave this one up to the group)
Possible options
1. Create a GRE tunnel through the firewall
2. Use RIP routing
3. Use BGP routing
Which is the best possible solution?
not really enough information is provided, but in the real world, if a
firewall exists in such a location, it is generally not a good idea to run
a GRE tunnel through it. So, either RIP or BGP would be acceptable
solutions.....I have deployed both it just depends on what problem you are
trying to solve.
This is kind of long winded, but if you can go through these 3
steps.....consider yourself on the right track
HTH,
Victor
