I wouldn't say 'typically' at all. I've worked with a number of enterprise
custmers that are multihomed with their own IP addresses that do indeed have
their own AS number. Some have a real need, others a perceived need...
But, many do!
As for the lab though, it is possible to filter prefixes without taking the
AS number into account. If you're given a different AS, you can work with
it. If you aren't given this information you can work without it. Assume
that both are fair game!

registered AS number. But, in the lab, if wer'e told to filter the prefixes
of an ISP's customers, should we assume then, this ISP's customers have
their own AS number unless we're given the actual prefixes?
