The "cheezy kits" were a replacement for the flash card so you have 16meg.
I'm not sure the difficulties you had unless you tried to add them in
instead of replacing the old one! But as long as you have a PIX520 with
16meg flash, then you can run all of the current images without any problem.

I know we had to get rid of the 520's because there wasn't enough flash in
them to hold the more current versions of the software. Cisco did make
available some cheezy kit that allowed for flash expansion. We bought the
kits and never could get them to work.
