Connecting disjoint areas

As far as I know there are three ways to joint an area to a backbone.

1) Virtual-links
2) Tunneling
3) Multiple OSPF Process,

Multiple OSPF process, I coudn't find an doc on how to configure in the
situation where area is disjoint from area 0 or area 0 is disjoint with other
areas between them.

Any practical example or link will be appreciated.
