There is no reason to set the interface to sync mode. Just configure is
like you would normally configure a frame relay switch interface. Did you
enable Frame-Relay switching and set the interface to DCE and set the clock
rate? All three are required to configure a frame relay DCE interface.

Subject: 8-Port Async/Sync Network Module

Guys,

I have a 3640 router with a 8-Port Async/Sync Network Module, this is
connected via the serial interface to selection of 2600 and 3620's routers.
I've set the 3640 interface to sync mode so that I can confugure the box as
a
Frame-relay switch. Unfortunately, the adjacent side keeps flapping (i.e
the
2600's & 3620) and I cannot understand why.... any ideas. Can't see what
else
I have to do.

Please note that the clock rate is set on the 3640 and is does not work when
the frame is encapsulated into HDLC or Frame Relay.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Connelly
