nasty 3550 bug

   This may have been bantered about on this list already but if not I
ran into a nasty SPT bug. The bug ID id CSCdy21905. It took down a
customers 40+ switched network twice before we nailed the bug. Don't
believe the affected serial numbers list, mine in the lab was not in the
"list" but was affected. You perform a simple test with a xover cable
between 2 access-ports to determine culpability. Once you connect this
xover cable between the two access ports, in approx. 30 seconds one port
should turn green, the ohter amber. If they both stay green and flash
rapidly you have the bug. You must have a physical loop in you network
for the bug to rear it's ugly head.
