Did you first enable aaa new-model?
The 3550 documentation is especially clear on if this is required for radius to work, but that would be my guess.
Also, you should be aware that the "?" doesn't always show you ALL the possible commands that can be entered at the prompt. On rare occasions, I've discovered some commands that work fine although when you do the question mark, that command doesn't. Weird, don't ya think?
