It seems fair to me. If the script fails but give you the points then no
correction by hand. If it fails but you are not given the points then
correction by hand,

After the exam is over, you can ASK the proctor who will be grading the
exam, and when it will be done. I have sat for the lab exam a number of
times (too many) and each time after asking the question I was told who
would grade it and approximately when I would have my results. At least 3
times I have been assured by 3 different proctors that any section the
grading script fails you on is subsequently graded again manually.
