This is off topic somewhat, but after spending the better part of all
day trying to find some info, I'm hoping some of ya'll on here can help.
I'm trying to find out what products Cisco has BESIDES the MGX/BPX/etc
that do CE endpoint to ATM PVC mapping.
I know the Lucent PSAX and the Ciena/Wavesmith boxes do this, as well as
the Cisco MGX/BPX type switches.
I'm trying to design my 3rd party interconnect network to allow for DR
at a contract hostsite across the country from my primary data center.
In the event that I have to activate my DR plan, I'll need to
immediately recover about 14 p-p 3rd party T1's as well as my 3rd party
frame cloud. This is in addition to the internal network requirements. I
have a DMZ between the internal network and the 3rd party connections
that will be recovered at the hotsite as well.
I'm thinking I can use the CE-ATM/ATM-CE mapping technique to locate
Edge switches in three or four locations around the country, then
re-home the 3rd Party P-P circuits to CEM ports on these switches. These
edge switches will have UNI's into my existing ATM cloud, and I'll
provision PVC's through to my ATM routers in the data center. I'll also
provision PVC's on my existing ATM cloud to the DR site so I don't have
to worry about turning them up later. SPVC's might be used here instead,
but I'm trying to keep it relatively simple.
While capex is an issue, recurring costs are a more important
consideration.
Any thoughts, productions, suggestions, improvements, or ideas would be
greatly appreciated.
Joe
