Hello all,
I thought I knew how to apply a "service-policy input" command in an atm
interface. I would just type pvc x/yy and then put the command there. But
today I did a mock lab where pppoatm had to be configured. So:
interface ATM0/0/0.201 point-to-point
pvc 0/201
encapsulation aal5snap
protocol ppp Virtual-Template1
But then a later task was to rate-limiting incoming icmp packets. So:
policy-map ICMP
class ICMP
police cir 256000
conform-action transmit
exceed-action drop
violate-action drop
Here I could see three interfaces where the service-policy command could be
applied: the atm interface, the atm subinterface, the pvc x/yy inside the
subinterface and the Virtual-Template interface. Where exactly should it be
applied ? Any reason ?
On the pvc x/yy there were no options.
On the atm subint. the virtual-access interface would go done once the
service command was applied.
So I applied it on the atm interface, I quickly did some tests and I could
not see any match. But I was in a hurry so I passed onto the next question.
Could anyone confirm that generally the policy is applied to pvc x/yy but
that this is a particular case ?
Thank you for reading,
