Karim i got you wrong then...

in show queuing random-detect output ,
you ll see the max-thresholds are by default equal to interface hold-queue for
all precedence levels.
and
you can calculate the min threshold levels , with the formula
 min threshold level = (0.5 + p/18) X 40 ,
for precedence=p=0 min_threshold=20
                       p=1 min_threshold=0.55 X40 =22.22 rounded to 22
                       p=2 = 0.61X40 = 24.44 rounded down
to 24...etc
which you will also see in random-detect output

and it is general practice in lab preperation to assign default values for
unspecified parameters.
unless another requirement necessiates you change it.

good luck

Ozgur

Hi Ozgur,

I didn't mean that I will write an incomplete command. What I meant is that
if the max-threshold and mark-prob-denominator are not given, I will use the
defaults values (I will use the show queuing command to double check these
values if can't recall it).

Karim.

you can not do that

R3(config-if)#random-detect precedence 0 15
% Incomplete command.

Hi Group,

It was requested to start dropping packets when there are 15 packets with an
IP precedence of routine in the queue. The solution included was:
int xx
 random-detect
 random-detect precedence 0 15 40 10

Does this mean that whenever the max-threshold and mark-prob-denominator are
not specified, I default values will be used (taken from the show queueing
command).

Am I missing something ??

Thanks for help,
Karim.
