I can't tell you what NEBS actually stands for, but it is the
certification program, defined by Telecordia (the former Bellcore)
for equipment that will go into telephone offices. There are three
levels of certification, NEBS-1 indicating the equipment won't
interfere with anything else, up to NEBS-3, which considers equipment
reliability, such as proper airflow. It's not a simple pass-fail;
NEBS is an overall program, and a NEBS test report can be 3 inches
thick.

NEMA is the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, which,
among other things, establishes standards for electrical power
connectors.'

X-bar is crossbar, which, in the context of the 6500, is the
architecture of the optional high-sped switching fabric
