I think that since "deny" is the default, the example you showed below doesn't do anything - it's kind of like creating an access-list with only 1 deny entry and no permit entries. It seems to me that this command s/b used to specify the continuous range of mcast addresses you want to permit. Whatever mcast adddr isn't permitted is, by default, denied.
