RE: line protocol is down

Well I had SBC replaced a smart jack on one side. I am still having the same
issue. I have tried a new T1 WIC-1DSU-T1 and a new router.
It is very strange. SBC is saying that circuit is now fine on both sides. I
am clueless. Also do I need this command service-module t1 timeslots 1-24
And also do we need the clock command. Anything else I could try. I have
tried HDLC and ppp, but nothing works. One thing I am not sure is that
serial interface is generating lot of input errors, as soon as I clear
counters I get them again any idea what is causing that. Thanks in advance
for the help.

I had a similar strange problem occur that ended up being an incompatible
smart jack card.

I was using a 2621XM w/ WIC-1DSU-T1 card.
Three identically configured circuits.

On one circuit I was getting massive errors. All other circuits were fine.

If I connected either of the other two T1s to the WIC-1DSU card the lines
worked fine.
If I replaced the WIC-1DSU the problem circuit still had problems and the
good circuits still worked.
If I connected to trouble circuit to a different router with WIC-1DSU it
still had problems.

Looks like a carrier/circuit problem . . . BUT

If I connected an external DSU to a WIC-1T card the trouble circuit was
clear.
Also, a hard loop all the way to the end of the cable I plugged into the
router showed clear.

From my side, it looked like a telco problem. The carrier sent a tech on
site and tested the circuit end-to-end and found no problems so they thought
it was a problem with my equipment.

After a lot of pointing back and forth, it was finally noticed that the
smart jack for the new circuit was a different model than the other two
(though the only way to really tell was by the model number).

The carrier replaced it and everything worked fine.

I could have given up and gone with the WIC-1T with external DSU solution
but I knew that there was something different with the circuit that was
causing the problem so I escalated it as far as I could. It took a while to
complete but it kinda felt good to know I was right (and so was the telco)

Subsequently I reported the case to Cisco and the NIU manufacturer. Of
course. I can't find the information on the NIU to pass on but thought it
was worthwhile to mention it so if others out there experience a similar
problem.

After spending five hours with trying different things finally sbc admitted
that there is a problem with smart jack and they will send out a technician.
Thanks to all for their help. Just one thing though I was getting lot of
input errors and interface resets I don't know what was causing that. Thanks

It's a little hard to debug without knowing how the circuit is provisioned,
but assuming that we are dealing with a T1 circuit, I would have SBC verify
the framing and coding on the circuit, and make sure that the settings on
your side match.

Have you checked the configurations and errors on your DSUs?

It is simply point to point with ser up on both sides and line down. I have
tried every combination. On one side I am getting lot of input errors. As
soon as I clear them I get them again. Thanks

The physical interface being down, Incorret DLCI on the frameswitch or
interface would do it.
Please email in the physical and point-to-p conifg along with a show frame
