I don't know about loopback interfaces, but I do know about tunnel interfaces. These are used for moving multicast traffic across a WAN that doesn't support multicast.
Not usually a problem over point to point, frame, or layer 2 circuit emulated services, but sometimes you run into this as a requirement to move multicast traffic.

Subject: Multicast & Loopback Interfaces
Hi all,
I know that mcast should be enabled on all interfaces in a mcast domain, but
does (or should) that include Loopback Interfaces?
Could someone explain when, if ever, mcast should be enabled on Loopbacks
and why?
Thanks in advance, pm
