One key item to note on the Netranger IDS. They used to run
it on Solaris (the 3.x version) but now run it on Linux (the
4.x version). As of February 2004 they stopped providing
IDS signatures for the 3.x version. So suggest you check
the version running on the IDS and take that into account.
