They've been threatening that since IOS 10.3... But I still use "wr" and
"wr t" to save my little brain space for other useful things. :)

Cisco used to say they were going to remove the write command someday, but I
haven't heard that in a while. I heard a rumor several years ago that they
actually tried to remove it, but it broke so many things they gave up and
left it in.
