Ah Etherchannel--my guess then that it is aggregating the cost of each link,
shall I assume its three 100MB links in the Etherchannel?

No, auto ref 1000 doesn't change the link cost at all, as shown by show ip
ospf int

Auto ref 2000 produces a link cost of 6 and auto ref 3000 changes it to 10.

The link in question is a 100-mb layer-3 Etherchannel

My calculation for that would be 1000 as the reference bandwidth would make
the cost 10 for a 100MB link. Is that cost what the connected router is
advertising or is it on the other link? The cost would be both the attached
interface as well as the cost of the one on the other side....
