Multicast on all routers/interfaces or only on the current RPF

Hi
Basic question regarding multicast enabling on interfaces (say pim sparse
or dense mode).

1- Let me take an example, i have a 3 paths from the source to destination and
currently from source A to Destination B flow through path1 (RPF).
From the ccie practice lab point of view, should we enable multicast
and mode (pim)
on interfaces / routers in all paths or only path1 direction router
interfaces. ?

2-What is the general rule to enable multicast on the interfaces connected to
source and destination (mostly ethernet int) ? Does both these
interfaces required
"ip pim sparse / dense" command.
Regards
Shibu
