Hey Mike,
I would provide the actual config's if I had them, but I don't anymore.
This came from a practice lab I was able to do with some borrowed equipment
a couple of months ago but I no longer have the same equipment so I can't
completely re-create it. At the time, I tried everything I could thing of
but after a while I gave up and moved on to other labs, but all the
discussion of late reminded me of this problem and so I posted it.
As I said, I think that somehow the 2 parallel links between R2 and R3 - 1
fast ethernet and the 2nd plain ethernet - might be root source of the
problem even though that doesn't make sense to me.
My hope is that someone can lab up the topology below and either eliminate
the parallel links as a potential source of this problem and point me in the
right direction or explain why it caused the problem and what I should have
done about it.
I can add 1 other piece of info which may or may not be relevant. And, that
is that load balancing should take place over the 2 parallel links. On R2,
the route table showed 2 entries for each route learned from R3 so I believe
there's no load balancing problem.
I appreciate any ideas you may have. Thanks
