OT:Giant errors

Hi all:

I'm having some doubts regarding what a system MUST consider a GIANT error
and what not. Maybe some one can help.

For example, if you do an extended ping from one device to another one
connected to the first via DOT1Q trunk, using 1500 bytes packet size and
DF set (DONT FRAGMENT), the receiver must see the traffic as GIANTS?
Remember dot1q header is 4bytes and suppose receiver input interface has
mtu equal to 1500.

I've tried this with the same hardware and two differents IOS releases, and
the results are different: one of these ios displays GIANTs, but not the
another.
