Hi
Setup:
R5-----ibgp------R2-----ebgp-------R6
R5 have a loopback 200 configured for 200.200.200.5/24
And advertised through BGP as well as OSPF.
R5 and R6 have "no sync" configured. And R2 did not disabled
the sync.
R2 installed OSPF route (200.200.200.0/24) in the routing table but
i can also see the same route under bgp table aslo. And due to the
smaller adm distance, OSPF is installed in the routing table.
R2#sh ip bgp
BGP table version is 5, local router ID is 2.2.2.2
Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i - internal
Origin codes: i - IGP, e - EGP, ? - incomplete
Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path
* >i200.200.200.0 5.5.5.5 0 100 0 i
R2 to R6 is ebgp and i can see eBGP route is added in the routing table
(since ebgp
have lower admin distance than OSPF). Both show ip route and show ip bgp
shows the
200.200.200.0/24 routes. I think here everything is workig as expected.
Now my question is about the sync,
If i have to disable sync on one router, is it a good practice to disable
on all the routers
or it does not matter as long as IGP is learned the routes before BGP
install in the routing table.
Any other tips that i should know when "sync" has to be disabled on one or
all the ebgp/ibgp routers.
Thank you
Regards
Shibu
